Yesterday,I was rooming in park and suddenly i noticed that huge number of people are struggling with obesity. So, i thought to write about obesity. First of all, have a look on obesity data:

  •  Overall obesity has almost significant increases since 1975.
  • In 2016, more than 1.9 billion grown ups, 18 years and more seasoned were overweight , of those, more than 650 million were obese
  • 39% of grown- ups matured  18 years and over were overweight in 2016 and 13 % were large.
  • A large portion of the total population live in nations were overweight and obesity murders a bigger number of individuals than underweight.


Being obese or overweight means your body weight is higher than what is considered healthy for your height.

Difference between being obesity versus  overweight:

Many of us don’t know the difference between obesity and overweight. We use to thought that they both are synonyms of each other. But the reality is not same. There is difference  between being obese and being overweight. Lets understand that:                                                                                                                                                                             One way to figure out is to calculate your BMI(Body Mass Index). BMI is the number that is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in meter squared.There are chart online that can look up and figure out what your BMI is.

A healthy BMI is anywhere between 18 and 25. A BMI between 25 and 30 is considered to be overweight. Anything over 30 is considered obese. A BMI of 40 or greater is considered Morbidly Obese. The graph given below easily helps you to grasp the concept of obesity.

Obesity Prevention

Lifestyle Changes: Lifestyle changes can help you to loose weight. It is important to reduce your energy which is amount of calories in the food you eat and to increase your energy out which is amount of calories your body burn doing physical activity.You can reduce the amount of extra calories in your diet by making healthy food choices such as fruits,vegetables whole grains. Lets understand this concept more deeply:

  1. Eating  & Exercise: The Gas Tank Analog
  • Food is FUEL: like the GAS you put in your car
  • Exercise is like stepping on the GAS PEDAL.
  • Do BOTH: But Less Gas in the tank AND run the car
  • Excess gas and minimal driving makes the gas tank balloon out.
    • Exercise can be  done without pain
      • Physical therapy consultation
      •  Water aerobics,swimming,walking
    • >30 minutes moderate to vigorous
    • Exercise is essential for weight loss,weight maintenance, AND will prevent serious complications.

    2. Limiting unhealthy snacks.

   3. Avoiding high calories fast food by preparing food at home.

  4. Eating food which are lower in fat.

  5. Reading food nutrients levels to help learn more about the food you are eating and            make better choice.

 6. Drink balance amount of water

  7. Take healthy sleep.
